John, Dolomites Week 2019
The following are some excerpts of a (long!) club write-up done after our 2019 Dolomites trip:
In late June, three of our club embarked on a once in a lifetime trip to the Italian Dolomites with Stuart Hall Cycling for a week of pleasure and pain amidst the most breath-taking landscape anywhere in Europe. […]
Day 3 the day I’d been waiting for – the Sella Ronda. Six climbs and some of the most gorgeous scenery in Europe. It started with the ubiquitous Falzarego, followed by the Passo Pordoi – a long and beautiful climb to a high col surrounded by ski lifts and cable cars. But these were just the appetizers. After a bit of lunch and lots of espresso, the Passo Sella and Passo Gardena were beyond beautiful and having the roads pretty much to ourselves made it all the more memorable. You sometimes just have to stop and drink it all in, and take photos of course. These moments are what the memories are made of – I could have stayed here all week and just stared. […]
So, how do I summarise our week in the Dolomites? Well, it was a week that I will never forget and I’m sure my friends will agree. The company was great and the spectacle was everything we could have imagined, if not more. I, for one, have vowed that I will return there one day. If any of you are inspired to follow in our footsteps, do so without hesitation. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed!
