Stuart Hall Cycling offers a variety of full-carbon rim-brake, disc-brake and Di2 bikes for rental when you join one of our Cycling Holidays.

Our bikes

We offer a range of different hire bikes to suit different cycling demands and budgets from rim-brake bikes at £20 per day to disc brake bikes with 12-speed Shimano Di2 gears at £40 per day. All bikes are full-carbon with alloy wheels and 34/50 compact chainsets.

We charge a fixed damage cover fee of £25 per rental to give you full peace of mind during the rental.

Please note that bikes are set up with brakes the same way round as in the UK, with the front brake on the right. We regret that we are unable to supply bikes with brakes the other way around.

Bike sizing

In order for us to ensure that your hire bike is the right size and correctly set up for you, we require you to provide two measurements when booking: your height and your seat height, both in centimetres.

When booking your disc-brake or Di2 bike you will also need to select your frame size directly when you book it. As a guide, we would recommend the following frame-sizes for the following heights:

• XS [49]: 160-165cm; 5’3″ +/-
• S [52]: 165-170cm; 5’5″ +/-
• M [54]: 170-176cm; 5’7″ +/-
• L [56]: 176-180cm; 5’8″ +/-
• XL [58]: 180+cm; 6’0″ +/-

Height
The first measurement we need to set up your bike is your height, in cms. If you don’t know it, the best way to measure it is with your back against a wall, without shoes on.

Seat height

To calculate seat height from your inside leg measurement, first measure your inside leg by standing with your back against the wall having removed your shoes. Hold a book up into your crotch with similar pressure to a bike saddle and measure from the floor to the top of the book. Please note that inside leg measurement is not your trouser length. You can then approximate your seat height by multiplying your inside leg measurement by 0.883.

Booking your bike

When you book one of our cycling holidays, you will have the option of hiring a bike during the booking process. You need to select the type of bike you’d like to rent and you’ll then need to provide your two measurements and we will set it up for when you arrive. Any special requirements can be requested when booking and we will do our best to accommodate them, although anything non-standard may come with an additional charge. We regret that we are not able to fit power cranks to our hire bikes.

What you need to bring

All bikes come with a spare inner tube, tyre levels, pump and 1 or 2 bottle cages (some extra-small bikes can only fit 1 bottle cage, all the others have 2 bottle cages).

You must bring your own shoes, pedals, helmet and water bottles. Anyone wishing to bring their own saddle is welcome to do so. We have women’s specific saddles, so please request one if you would like one. We also have a limited number of pedals and helmets for rent – please ask.

Your bike will be ready for collection from our bike room at 09:00 hours on the first paid day of rental. Bikes must be returned to the bike room no later than 16:30 hours on the last day of rental. Late return of your hire bike will result in an additional day’s charge.
