Tired of the cold, dark and icy roads every winter? Join us in Mallorca in January and February 2018 to get some early season miles in. We’re going to be based in the south of the island, with a focus on quality base training combined with some intervals and climbing.
We are running our early season camp from 6th January this year and will then be in Mallorca until the end of May. During January and February we base ourselves in C’an Pastilla in the south of the island, and this year we will be staying at the recently refurbished 4* Roc Leo hotel. On 2nd March, we then head north to our regular spring base in Puerto Pollensa. If you’re with us when we move hotel, you won’t lose a day’s cycling – we ride to Puerto Pollensa and arrange for your bags to be transferred.
*The Mallorcan Tourist Tax has been increased in 2018 to €3 per night for 4* hotels. This is not included in our prices and is payable directly to the hotel on arrival.
**Please note that flight arrivals scheduled to land after midnight and flight departures scheduled to leave before 08:00 will incur an £80 surcharge (per person, per transfer) unless we are able to use the national shuttle service for the transfer. Where the shuttle is a possibility, we will provide you with the option to choose which you prefer on booking. For delayed flight arrivals, provided your flight is scheduled to land before midnight, there will be no extra charge.
We’ve been going to Mallorca in January for over ten years, and it’s one of our favourite months for cycling in Mallorca. There’s no traffic, just cyclists on the roads, the weather is usually dry, there’s not much wind, and it’s very mild. It’s also a great opportunity to watch the continental pro teams training as they’re all out there then. Jump on the back if you can!! We generally just have one group going out during our January camp and the focus is on getting in some quality base miles. A typical ride would be 90+ miles at ~17mph.
In February we kick off our Spring training camp in earnest. The choice of rides will depend on the clients we have out with us and the conditions, but there will usually be two rides to choose from. Cycling in Mallorca in February is a great opportunity to top off your winter training with a selection of miles, climbs and speed getting you ready for the cycling season ahead, whether that’s racing, sportives, or just general fitness.
For some examples of typical routes we use in Jan/Feb, please see our Mallorca Routes.
Photos from our camp in January and February 2017 can be seen here for an indication of the types of groups and conditions. This time of year in Mallorca is generally excellent for cycling, and for making those back at home jealous…
Our fleet of hire bikes has been increasingly popular over the last two years and will be available again in 2018, at some great prices. For more information on our bikes, please see the bike hire page.
