Ian, Marmotte 2018

I have to thank all of you at Stuart Hall Cycles for organising and supporting me thoughout the week of the Marmotte. You kept the pressure off the riders and the professional advice in the days before the race was invaluable (you even told me how to breathe).

The race day will always be one of the best days of my life and the race went so well. When I came down off the Galibier to find Dave by the van shouting “You did it man, man you did it!” I was sure that I would be a finisher. When I punctured in the last tunnel going down to Bourg, Dave and Ian rocked up to help before I even had the tyre off, it was great.

So at 69 I completed my first Marmotte and rode all the way, I have the medal, the long sleeve jersey and the memories!
