Harold, Raid Alpine 2018
My thanks to SHC and crew for a great week of cycling. I just returned from the Raid Alpine.
It was stupendous. The climbs, two to three Cols per day, were awesome; the descents thrilling and never ending. Unbelievable, really. As an example, from the top of the Galibier, we rode 60 kilometres downhill to the Alpe d’Huez climb. I kept looking at my Garmin – 30 kms, then 40, then 50, and finally 60 kms. How does that happen. Who cares; it did and it was so much fun. And, that was only one of many such descents. In fact, if you’d been a kid, with a pocket full of quarters at a Midway amusement fair, where the rides were only a nickle a piece, you would not have had more fun. Exhilarating is insufficient to express the feeling of flying down the Cols to the next climb. If you’re thinking about riding the Raid Alpine, do it. The alpine scenery is breathtaking; and, SHC and crew are excellent hosts and guides. Not to be missed.
